Life Update

Updated: Mar 9

I’m currently sitting in the fifth new coffee shop I've been to since moving here, blaring Kanye West into my ears due to a sudden curiosity in kanye conspiracies. I moved to Lincoln, NE, at the beginning of August. Finally free of my parents rules, finally feel to control my life, finally free to pay for my own wifi, water, food, laundry, and TOILET PAPER. Basically, living on your own is a whole lot more than just staying up way late and no one telling you to clean your room. I haven't actually started school or my job yet either so i've just been floating through the city. I only knowing what day of the week it is because I just checked my yoga schedule for the third time today.

If you are like any living person I have spoken to since moving here, you may be thinking, “So what are you even doing if you don’t go to school or have a job????????”

I have been doing yoga.

I have been decorating.

I have been painting.

I have been praying.

I have been exploring the city.

I have been exploring myself.

I have been catching up on sleep.

I have been learning who I am.

The first thing I did when I moved to Lincoln was find a yoga studio to go to. I scrolled through several websites of many of the studios in the lincoln area. Nothing seemed like the place for ME. Right before I settled on the cheapest one I found, I stumbled on Studio 4:8. I went that day. Studio 4:8 is a Christian based studio with a yoga class for wherever you are in your practice right now.The minute I walked in everyone was so very welcoming and accepting of me and I knew this was going to be my most visited place. I went almost ten times in the next two weeks. Studio 4:8 has been my consistency in the chaos of learning to live on my own.

Studio 4:8 has been my consistency in the chaos of learning to live on my own... Learning how to balance life BEFORE school and work has taught me how to make myself accountable. No one is going to remind me that I have to go get up and do stuff (except maybe my phone because I set 3 reminders: one to get me to start thinking about getting out of bed, another to make me actually get out of bed, and the last to make sure I have actually left.).

Although some days are hard and confusing I can't remember a time that I have done so much yoga, completed so much art, or prayed this much. I am having the time of my life in this little big city. I am constantly finding more places that I love. I feel so proud of myself every time I remember what road things are on. I smile everytime I see a new coffee shop to add to my list. I am so grateful for all the kind people I have met. I am so grateful for the good and the bad days.

Most importantly, I can not wait to see what comes next.
